The Growler House is a bar located in Cincinnati, OH focused on “offering a fresh and comprehensive selection of craft beer available on draft. We have 30 of the most varied local, regional, and national craft beers for you to enjoy onsite or to take home in one (or more) of our 32 or 64-ounce growlers for enjoyment in your own environment.”
The design of the GH was based on their small “home” type vibe with chalk boards as main methods of communicating inside the bar. I want to make it clear that The Growler House branding was not my work. The GH already had a brand for the glasswear, signs, advertising, social media accounts, and so forth. The new design better incorporated their awesome brand to create a functional and professional website.
Two main functionalities were required for the new website. First, we needed to be sure their current process for updating tap lists and providing this information to their customers was not hindered. In order to do this, a custom API calling was created from their current Untappd venue list. Doing so allowed The Growler House to continue updating their beer selection, sharing it with their customers, and get a great new online showcase for patrons to see which beer they’ll have next.
Second function was the ability to post events and information that would occur at The GH. We went ahead and heavily modified a WordPress Plugin called The Events Plugin by Modern Tribe. The core functionality of the plugin was kept while we gave the outside a fresh new coat of paint that fit nicely with the new GH design. I hope that the new GH design continues to help the GH grow and be one of my favorite hang outs! Please go check out the website, and let me know if I can help in your own project
